How To Fully Embrace A Free To Be Lifestyle

It’s 6 AM, and the alarm is going off. You groggily hit the button to shut it off and drag yourself out of bed. You’ll spend yet another day in an office cubicle with fluorescent lighting while staring at a computer screen. What you wouldn’t give for the life your dog has. He was stretched out in his bed with not a care in the world as you hustled out of the door.

Your pup can teach you a few things about embracing a free to be lifestyle. So sit back, take a deep breath, and try these tips.

Let Go of What You Can’t Control

Fear and worry can distract and paralyze you into not enjoying the good things that are around you. Your furry friend doesn’t worry about things he can’t control, and neither should you. If you find yourself struggling to let go, distract yourself. Grab the leash and go for a walk with your four-legged friend, you’ll be feeling carefree in no time.

You can also focus your energy on the things you can control.

Simplify Your Schedule

You can’t take the time to enjoy life if you don’t have any free time. While you can’t make your schedule as simple as your dog’s, you can look for ways to build some free time into it.  By giving yourself a scheduling break, you can feel more freedom to be spontaneous.

Take a look at your schedule and ask yourself these questions.

  1. Does it fill you with a sense of meaning and direction?
  2. Is it bringing you happiness?

If you don’t say “yes” to either of these things and it’s only causing you stress, then cut it from your schedule.

Take Pleasure in the Little Things

Pure joy is when your pup finds his favorite chew treat in his bowl or sitting down for a wrestle session with his favorite toy. It could even be stretching out for an afternoon nap in the sun. So when was the last time you paused and enjoyed a simple little pleasure?

Life is short and fast, so take a moment to appreciate the little things. This could be taking five minutes to appreciate a beautiful sunset, hitting every green light on the way to work, or just sitting down with your dog for a cuddle sesh with your furry friend.

Focus on Your Goals

There’s truth to the saying “like a dog with a bone” when it comes to focusing on your goals. When your dog identifies something that they want, that’s it, nothing else matters. Take this lesson in staying focused and apply it to your goals.

Identify what you want most and focus on achieving it. Don’t let yourself get distracted by little things that won’t further your efforts. It can help to write out your goals and keep them posted somewhere so you can view them daily.

Embrace a Free Lifestyle

By making small changes to your daily habits, you can embrace a more free lifestyle. Focus on finding ways to accept the things you can’t control while focusing on your goals and the things you can. Then look at your schedule and find ways to simplify the demands on your time to give you the free time you need to enjoy the simple things.

If you ever feel like you’re getting off track, remind yourself to take a pause and reevaluate. You can always turn to your furry family member and appreciate their zest for life as they embrace the little things.

Start embracing the free to be lifestyle by a high-quality harness and leash ready for your next adventure with your pup.
